General Information

Finding Us.....

Address:

The Body Junction,

3 Sutherland Avenue,

Bexhill,

TN39 3LT

We are situated on the corner of Terminus Road and Sutherland Avenue.

The clinic has a red front door, and you can let yourself in to reception and take a seat. There will sometimes be a receptionist there to greet you, but please be aware they do not manage my schedule.

Parking and Public Transport

There are 8 marked parking spaces on the driveway, and the surrounding streets are generally free to park on, without restrictions (please always double check for any signs yourself).

The clinic is opposite ONE of the entrances to Collington Train Station. Please familiarise yourself on Google Maps, as you'll want to exit onto Terminus Road/Sutherland Avenue, NOT Cooden Drive/Richmond Road.

The 99 Bus (Hastings to Eastbourne route) goes along Westcourt Drive, past the end of Terminus Road, and there is a bus stop by that junction/outside Collington Woods.

Appointment Duration

Please note that appointments have always been advertised as 40 minutes long. However, it is currently very common for sessions to considerably overrun (with the timings becoming blurry ever since the pandemic), and I do need to use this new start to regain a bit more control. To explain....

Before the pandemic, as some patients may remember, appointments were booked every 45 minutes (a 40 minute appointment, plus 5 minutes contingency/swap over time). When the pandemic hit, we had to space patients out much more, to limit the chance of patients coming into contact with one another in reception, and to allow for extensive clean downs between sessions. As time went on, the cleaning protocol became much more efficient, and we weren't having to disinfectant quite so many things. It also wasn't deemed such a risk for patients to pass each other in reception, and so we no longer needed a full 20 minutes between appointments. However; it was a time when people were still very scared/stressed/lonely, with their appointments potentially the only time they were having contact with another person. Pain presentations were also a lot more complicated, due to the heightened state most people were in. It was therefore important to give a bit of extra time where needed (even just to chat), and that created a bit of a slippery slope where patients would be in the clinic for 50 minutes, maybe even an hour (with an a lot of notes still left to write up at the end of the day)! This has then continued for what I now realise is almost 6 years(!), and I am aware a lot of patients now expect a session to be 50-60 minutes/feel short changed if it finishes after 40 minutes. This is my fault, for not managing timings effectively, and I have been really happy to give patients extra space where they've needed it; but I do now need to try and get back to being more efficient within each session, particularly as I am now renting a space per hour, rather than having a lease. I hope that everyone will appreciate any 'free' time they've had to this point, rather than feel they are now losing out, but will be happy to discuss the above with anyone who has any queries. Where my schedule allows, there will be an option to book an extended session of 1 hour, for anyone who feels they need more time.

Prices

From 01/04/26, fees will be increasing to £55 for existing patients. I'm aware this may seem a slightly steep increase (and perhaps feel like a double whammy of insults, if you have previously benefitted from overrunning sessions!), but I haven't raised my prices since 2022, despite running costs rising considerably for the business in this time, and so it is well overdue. I know a lot of people have commented that moving to renting a single room must save me money, but unfortunately that just isn't the case!

Cancellations

I am also going to be getting stricter on late cancellations, as they cause a lot of stress and extra work, and are very likely to leave me with a gap in the diary (which I will have undoubtedly refused to other enquiring patients). If a session is cancelled within 24 hours of the appointment, I will regrettably have to enforce a cancellation fee. Please refer to our cancellation policy: https://oldtownosteopathy.com/cancellation-policy

Please do prioritise your appointments, and limit rescheduling as much as possible (as it does create extra work, and I will have planned other patients - as well as my own engagements - around the bookings I have). And please don't wait until you receive your reminder to then cancel....Reminders are sent as a courtesy, to capture the odd occasion someone has forgotten to contact me ahead of time. Too many patients are now just casually cancelling when their reminder comes through, and whilst this may technically give me 24 hours notice, in reality that is still very little time for me to contact the cancellations list/expect any of those waiting to be available.

Notes

I will not have filing cabinets in the new clinic. So, from 01/04/26, I will be taking and storing notes electronically, in a system linked to the online diary. The provider (Cliniko) are a very well established and reputable company, with rigorous data protection in place, and the diary/your notes will be protected by a '2 factor authentication' login process. This is very standard practice in any medical setting, and (as many of you have commented over the years!) taking handwritten notes is now very outdated. If you should require any more information, don't hesitate to ask.

I hope the above is all as clear as it can be, and acceptable to everyone.

Thank you again for your support, understanding and lovely well wishes with this transition.

Tasha
